This
two-day workshop requires shamanic journeying experience.
"All
of our ancestors, no matter where we originated, have practiced
shamanism, a
most powerful form of healing and connecting with the Spirit Realms."
We
offer this workshop to support this contention, which
we have taught for decades.
Shamanism
in its ancient form is now eradicated in many parts of Europe and
Asia, yet
was still actively practiced in the 1800's and documented
up to the
mid 1900's. In
Siberia and Mongolia, shamanism survived and is
actively
pursued today. The practice was nearly intact for the Sami of
Scandinavia
and Western
Russia, as well as in isolated parts of Hungary and other areas of
eastern
Europe, though shamans were ostracized and even killed after the
advents
of
Christianity and Communism. In some
places, a partial
practice survived, blended with
other folk customs and/or integrated with Christianity.
In
this workshop, we look at evidence for shamanism among
earlier
European/Eurasian cultures and discuss surviving shamanic
practice, as
well as the reclaiming of shamanism taking place
throughout this
wide area today. We also share information about the importance
of the
ancestors in
traditional shamanism and the work we have been doing with our
ancestors to
reclaim our personal shamanic heritages. (British,
Etruscan, Danish and Hungarian, to date.)
This
workshop includes the presentation and discussion of primarily
little known data regarding ancestors and shamanic practice, and
journeywork to visit early shamanic
cultures
and discover each person's shamanic roots. When
time allows, we also reconstruct an ancient
shamanic ritual or
ceremony.
Bekki
Shining Bearheart, LMT and Crow Swimsaway, PhD began working
shamanically with their own ancestors, including teaching Circle of the
Ancestors, in 1994. Crow and Bekki have studied with
several
traditional shamans including Dona Andrea Rios (Huichol), Ailu Gaup
(Sami) and Sarangerel Odigan (Buryat/Mongolian).
Advance registration is required to attend all
Church of
Earth Healing classes and workshops. See the Schedule for when and where European
and Eurasian Shamanism is next offered.
